A Conversation with Camp Snoopy's Construction Manager« Go Back Thursday, February 20th, 2014
In this week’s Camp Snoopy Construction Update, we sat down with newest member of the Knott's Berry Farm family, Gerard Pascua, Manager of Construction. During the interview we learned about his favorite attraction, which Peanuts character he likes the most and more!
Can you tell us a little more about your position?
Sure! I oversee the project development department at Knott’s. Together we work on new capital, Knott’s Hotel, food and merchandise locations as well as Soak City. As of late we have been hard at work in Camp Snoopy.
What other projects have you worked on before coming to Knott’s?
I've enjoyed the many interesting facets of the theme park industry, having worked on projects including Sega Game Works, Soarin' Over California, Tower of Terror, and Finding Nemo at the Disneyland Resort, Hyatt Hotels, and Transformers: The Ride at Universal Studios.
Are you excited to work on the revitalization of Camp Snoopy?
Yes! It’s such a privilege to work on such a great and meaningful project. From the beautification of the area to the ride additions, every aspect of the revitalization is important.
What do you think guest’s reaction will be to the area?
They will be completely amazed and pleasantly surprised. Take the recent opening of Timberline Twister - guests and employees alike were very happy with the fresh new look of the attraction and its surrounding area. Starting with the rock works, concrete stamping, and ending with the new design of the Timberline cars, it’s a complete transformation. Parents and kids will now be able to really connect to the area.
Of the 3 new attractions, is there a specific one you are most looking forward to?
I would have to say Linus launcher. The kiddos are really going to like it! This attraction is unlike any other in Camp Snoopy. From the flying feeling it gives you, to its location; riders aboard the attraction will get a 360 degree look of the entire land.
What is your favorite attraction at Knott's Berry Farm?
I have three: the new attractions that my team and I are working on for Camp Snoopy, and that’s because we have such a personal connection to them. Of the current attractions in the theme park I would choose the Log Ride- I really enjoy the scenery and animatronics, given my background in animated figures and special effects. That said, I am really looking forward to the grand re-opening of the Calico Mine Ride.
Who’s your favorite Peanuts character?
Woodstock, I can relate to him- he has free will, is carefree and can fly anywhere! Well, I have to work on the flying! My main motto in life is: Experience life, because life is too short!
Thanks for your time, Gerard! We'll see you in the Park!
Be sure to say hi to Gerard next time you're in Camp Snoopy, and check back again soon for more announcements about what Gerard's team is working on!
