This year, Knott’s Berry Farm added Boysenberry Mac and Cheese to their list of over 75 boysenberry-inspired eats and treats and made all of our Boysenberry dreams come true. Knott’s Berry Farm’s signature berry is celebrated once a year during their annual Boysenberry Festival, showcasing some of the most unique and indulgent delicacies dreamed up by the culinary team at Knott’s. And while you can certainly get your Boysenberry fix throughout the year at the park, it is only during these four weeks that specialty items like Boysenberry Elote (my favorite!), Boysenberry Jambalaya, and The Berry Beast will be available.
Knott’s Boysenberry Festival celebrates the Boysenberry; the fruit that helped make a name for the park, now frequented by families from all over the world. The boysenberry is a cross between a loganberry, a red raspberry, and a blackberry and was named after Rudolf Boysen who originated the fruit. Mr. and Mrs. Knott were the first to harvest and sell the boysenberry, and every single one can be traced back to Knott's Berry Farm.
Last year, Knott’s sold a shirt that said, I’m just here for the food,” and admittedly, that is my favorite reason to visit Knott’s Boysenberry Festival. But the entertainment this year is not to be missed! During this month-long celebration, families can enjoy a Crafts Fair which features over 30 local artisans (you will find some boysenberry-inspired products too!), an 80’s dance party, and the infamous pie eating contest! You can find the daily schedule of shows and entertainment on the Knott’s Berry Farm app.
What’s New in Food at Knott’s Berry Farm!
This year, Knott’s will feature over 20 new Boysenberry-inspired foods, and 14 of them can be enjoyed with the Tasting Card (which is a must!). Below is a list of some of my favorites from this year’s festival:
Boysenberry Chili in a Boysenberry Sourdough Bread Bowl (Sutter’s Stand)
Knott’s house-made Boysenberry sourdough bread is filled with a Boysenberry-infused chili. The Boysenberry gives this chili a mildly sweet flavor that is not overpowering.
Boysenberry and Lemon Hummus with Pita Bread (Sutter’s Stand)
Traditional lemon hummus is infused with an underlying Boysenberry flavor and served with pita, carrots, and celery sticks.
Boysenberry Dry Rubbed Flank Steak with a Boysenberry Cream Cheese Topping (Sutter’s Stand)
Flank steak is marinated in beef stock with Boysenberry jam, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, and apple cider. Once the flank steak is grilled to tender perfection, it is topped with Boysenberry Cream Cheese.
Boysenberry BBQ Chicken Skewers with a Boysenberry Aioli (Wilderness Dance Hall)
Knott’s culinary team begins with bacon mixed with spices and sugar which is then rubbed on the outside of the chicken. These chicken skewers are grilled with Boysenberry BBQ sauce and then topped with Boysenberry Chipotle Ranch.
Boysenberry Pot Roast over Boysenberry Mashed Potatoes (Inside Spurs Chophouse)
This dish features an Inside Round, slow-cooked until it is “fall apart” tender and served over Boysenberry mashed potatoes with Boysenberry syrup and soft carrots.
Boysenberry Glazed Salmon over Mixed Greens and topped with a Boysenberry Vinaigrette (Inside Spurs Chophouse)
If you are looking for a fresh, lighter dish that still celebrates the Boysenberry, you will love Knott’s latest addition. Fresh seared salmon is served on top of fresh greens along with Boysenberries and blueberries, then topped with a Boysenberry vinaigrette.
Boysenberry Habanero Baked Mac and Cheese (Wagon Wheel Pizza)
This mac and cheese is hands-down my favorite of Knott’s newest Boysenberry menu items. The Jalapeño puree base features a rich, cheesy flavor, a crust topping, and a Boysenberry habanero bbq sauce on top. Do not let the “Habanero” deter you from trying this dish. The heat is balanced out by the creamy cheese.
Boysenberry Jambalaya with Chicken and Sausage (Wagon Wheel Pizza)
This rich jambalaya features soft chicken thighs and sausage with a subtle Boysenberry undertone.
Boysenberry Pulled Pork Tostada (Wagon Wheel Pizza)
Pulled pork is tossed in Boysenberry BBQ sauce then served with cabbage slaw, Boysenberries, and a Boysenberry sriracha syrup
Boysenberry Cinnamon Sugar Flour Tortilla Chips with Boysenberry Ice Cream (Ghost Town Bakery)
Also known as “buñuelos” these Spanish chips are made by frying Boysenberry flour tortillas which are then tossed with cinnamon sugar and served with Boysenberry ice cream.
The Berry Beast (Ghost Town Grill)
Weighing in at 5 to 5 1/2 pounds, this sandwich will feed several people so make sure you’re hungry! The culinary team starts with the same Jalapeño roll used to make Fireman’s BBQ sandwiches (the team multiplied the size by 4-5 times)! A 10-ounce chop of Midwestern fried pork tenderloin is hand-breaded and served with bacon-wrapped onions, caramelized onions, fire-roasted jalapeños, and a Boysenberry Habanero BBQ sauce. This sandwich is served a la carte at Ghost Town Grill.

Yogurtland teamed up with Knott’s Berry Farm to give fans a delicious froyo experience inspired by Knott’s most popular dessert, boysenberry pie. The Boysenberry Pie Frozen Yogurt is now available at your local store.
Each spoonful of Yogurtland’ s Boysenberry Pie frozen yogurt flavor is bursting with the jammy richness and sweet/tart taste of fresh boysenberries followed by hints of a buttery sweet pie crust. Inspired by the world-class award-winning pies, it’s creamy and delicious, and no doubt Mrs. Knott herself would approve. For an added boysenberry touch, Yogurtland will be serving mini boysenberry shortbread cookies as a topping option. Be sure to pick up a coupon good for up to $30 off one admission to Knott’s Berry Farm while at your local Yogurtland store.
