There’s nothing like a relaxing trip down a calm waterway to enjoy nature and all of its wonder right? Sorry to say if that’s what you are looking for you won’t find it here at Knott’s Berry Farm! Calico River Rapids is a swift white water raft ride that takes you on a journey predating the town of Calico as adventure seeking settlers. As you barrel down this gnarly river current just know that it shows no mercy or preference as to who might get soaked. Still willing to go on this adventure into the great unknown? Well, you have been fairly warned!

Here are some facts about this recently renovated attraction you might find interesting including the Calico River Rapids backstory. Armed with all this knowledge, there is still no taming the wilderness or the critters that inhabit this uncharted territory as you will soon find out for yourself
and alas, the ride finally pays homage to its predecessor's namesake, the elusive Bigfoot!

We bid farewell to Bigfoot Rapids September 2018 to welcome a fresh new Calico River Rapids that included all-new theming, outbuildings and more than a dozen animatronics to further support this new take on the classic water raft attraction. The rides new backstory is founded on two pioneers, Potts and Colter who settled the Calico River territory and became the future founders of the town, it’s timber company and gold mine. The storyline is based on real-life explorers John Potts and John Colter who were part of the Lewis & Clark Expedition.

Southern California based Garner Holt Productions was commissioned to be an integral part of the newly reimagined attraction. If you can contain your laughter long enough during the ride, you will experience nine themed scenes and more than 20 animatronic figures. Most of the changes can be experienced from the raft, but there is much to be seen from the queue of the ride as well making for the overall experience one you will want to enjoy over and over again!

The fun doesn't stop after your ride is over! Dynamite plunger boxes along the last bend of the attraction walkway will give you the spectator the opportunity to blast away at TNT barrels along the river. Just be warned, the TNT blasters have been known to backfire and may result in the
blaster getting wet!

So the big question is, will you ride with or without a poncho?

*Height Requirement: Must be 46” to ride — Fastlane and Single Rider options available.
