Eight Things You May Not Know About GhostRider Wooden Roller Coaster at Knott's Berry Farm

GhostRider is the largest attraction at Knott’s Berry Farm and still one of the most popular. It continues to be featured on lists of the best wooden coasters since its opening in 1998.

Here are eight different facts about our beloved coaster that you may not know:

• GhostRider opened on December 8th, 1998
• Construction finished six months ahead of schedule, allowing the ride to open earlier than originally planned.
• At the time of its opening, GhostRider was the largest capital investment to date in the park.
• GhostRider is the last ride of the park created by the Knott’s Family before Cedar Fair acquired the park in 1997, although the ride did not complete construction until after.
• The ride trains are either gold, silver, or copper to reflect different precious mining metals.
• During the refurbishment from 2015-2016, the ride received new trains that increased comfort and allowed for 24 riders.
• The initial drop did not initially have a metal overhang; it was added to prevent excessive noise from disturbing nearby residents
• GhostRider is the longest, tallest and fastest wooden roller coaster on the West Coast!
