It’s Founder’s Day once again in the sleepy town of Calico, but things are about to get a little wild!
The Mayor has gone missing, and the Sheriff, he up and retired! Without the law, there’s bound to be mischief among the citizens of Calico, and that’s where you come in. Are you up for the challenge to become Mayor Pro Tem, become a reporter for the Calico Gazette, or deliver packages for the Post Office? If so, make your way to Knott’s Berry Farm this summer and join the highly interactive Ghost Town Alive! experience running select dates now through September 4, 2023.
The moment you step into Calico, you are welcome to immerse yourself in the story. Run for Mayor Pro Tem by doing 5 good deeds, join the circus, or catalog the reported 9 missing kittens located throughout Calico. Be sure to report back any newsworthy events to the Gazette; your story may be published in one of the several printings done throughout the day. This is the one time of the year the entire town’s shops are open to explore! The charm of this award-winning daytime experience is you decide what part of the storyline to be involved with, as little or as much as you want, leading up to the hoedown at Calico Park at 4:30 pm.
So what do you need to do to be a part of this?
Just show up; the fun starts at 10 am (on select dates). My suggestion to get the most out of this experience is to dress for the occasion. So what should one wear, you ask? Ladies of all ages can dress the part of a cowgirl or don a simple prairie skirt and a hat. As for gents, both young and old, a pair of jeans, a cowboy hat, and a bandana will suit the occasion quite nicely.
Not one to cosplay? Dressing up isn’t required. But it sure can make your experience much more enjoyable and memorable! If this is your first time experiencing Ghost Town Alive! Knott’s also has a great selection of clothing and accessories you can pick up on the spot within the Knott’s Marketplace or within Ghost Town.

Be sure to catch Miss Cameo Kate’s Western Burle-Q Revue at the Bird Cage Theater, see the Knott’s App, or see performance times posted outside the theater. The Livery Stable is home to some of the beautiful horses of the farm, and keep an eye out for sweet Brutus the Donkey roaming the streets.
