Fall Halloween Fun For All Ages
Fall is our absolutely favorite time of the year. As the weather begins to shift to cooler days and nights, pumpkins and skeletons appear as Halloween time emerges at Knott’s Berry Farm. From day to night, there is something festive for everyone to enjoy.
During the day, Knott’s Spooky Farm is a family-friendly Halloween celebration that is included with daily theme park admission, Thursdays-Sundays until October 29th, plus Halloween Day. Kids can partake in seasonal activities like trick-or-treating (Available for kids 11 years old or younger), pumpkin decorating and costume parades. Upon entering the park, mini ghouls and goblins are handed treat bags to fill when wandering the streets of Ghost Town and interacting with friendly shop keepers.
When the treat bags are full, visit the Livery Stable where the Creepy Critters of Calico are on display. We had the opportunity to learn more about spiders, roaches, scorpions, giant turtles and a skeleton ghost.
Then we spotted Snoopy dressed up and stopped for a quick photo.
Feeling a little crafty? Decorate pumpkins or sugar cookies for an additional fee before riding the The Timber Mountain Log Ride or the Calico Candy Mine Ride, both of which have been updated with family festive Halloween decor.
In the afternoons, kiddos can show off their costumes in the Calico Carnival Costume Cavalcade at the Calico Mine Stage. Youngsters get to parade around the Calico Mine courtyard with local townsfolk and the PEANUTS gang. There is also a little time to dance and mingle with other cavalcade participants.
As the sun sets on The Farm, the park closes and the fog begins to roll in. The separately ticketed nighttime Halloween event, Knott's Scary Farm begins. Out from the darkest corners of the park, the never-ending nightmares emerge when the Green Witch appears, celebrating the past 50 years of unimaginable scares, she unleashes the mayhem and monsters through the streets of Ghost Town.
We started off the evening with the Knott’s Scary Farm Boo-Fet. It is the best way to fill up on a delicious buffet of Knott’s traditional fixings like Mrs. Knott’s fried chicken and mac and cheese, along with some tasty sides and desserts. Monsters wander the restaurant as unsuspecting diners enjoy their meal. This was the best time for photo opportunities with the characters and was a great way to gently get our older kids ready for a frightful evening.
With the Boo-Fet, you receive an all season drink cup and early access to a small area of Scary Farm, giving you the opportunity to go through 4 mazes: Wax Works, The Depths, Dark Entities and Bloodline 1842 before the event opens at 7:00pm.
Then, we headed through Ghost Town, where the screams began back in 1973. On this golden anniversary, there are three NEW terrifying mazes: Cinema Slasher, The Chilling Chambers and Room 13; for a total of ten mazes, five scare zones that will make you scream, laugh or even cry and a gruesome lineup of new shows, one of which is the return of the beloved Hanging.
We found the best way to navigate day time and evening events is to utilize the Knott's Berry Farm app. As with the events in the park, the app transitions from Knott’s Spooky Farm during the day to the haunts of Knott's Scary Farm in the evening. Keep track of ride and maze wait times and show times to make the most of your experience.
Knott’s Scary Farm is open select nights from September 21st through October 31st. Ticket prices and hours vary by day and while there is no real age limit for the event, it is not recommended for children under 13 years old. We did encounter the youngest of guests, maybe 3 years old, interacting with the creepy clowns of Carnevil, while watching grown adults run away from the wicked wizards of the Gauntlet.
Additionally, some of the shows are recommended for mature audiences. All guests must have their own paid admission, and there is a chaperone policy in place. For more details about Knott’s Scary and Spooky Farm, visit Knotts.com or the event pages here: Spooky Farm - Scary Farm
